In its National report on youth employmentDeveloped with the support of UNDP and ILO, the Congolese Government defines a clear roadmap, structured around employability, skills development, entrepreneurship and access to professional opportunities.

However, implementing these strategic directions requires partners capable of translating public policies into agile and effective field interventions. In this complementary role, SOS Jeunesse Africaine is a key operational partner, able to accelerate the achievement of national priorities.

A synergy in the service of public action

The challenges related to youth employment exceed the capacity of any single actor to intervene. While the Government establishes strategic guidelines and the regulatory framework, the effectiveness of these policies depends on the ability of civil society to act as closely as possible to the needs of communities.

SOS Jeunesse Africaine does not simply align its programs with national objectives; it acts as a public policy accelerator. Where national policies define the "what"—strengthening employability, supporting entrepreneurship, reducing inequalities—the organization provides the "how": on-the-ground implementation that reaches young people, including in remote areas, by mobilizing complementary resources to maximize the impact of government efforts.

Operational response to national priorities

To support the national vision, SOS Jeunesse Africaine deploys methodologies that directly address the gaps identified in the Rapport national :

Transition and employability: The organization compensates for the lack of professional networks through individual mentoring, thereby facilitating the sustainable integration of young people into the labor market.

Skills and the digital economy: To meet the modernization requirement, cross-functional training (leadership, critical thinking) is coupled with access to digital tools and artificial intelligence, as evidenced by the deployment of the Internet access project in Boteka.

Practical experience: The organization addresses the need for professional experience through internships and community projects that allow young people to acquire concrete references, essential for entering the private sector.

Entrepreneurship: By supporting the structuring of business models, the organization transforms individual aspirations into job-creating businesses, thus aligning with the government's strategy to boost the private sector.

A unique added value

The strength of this collaboration lies in SOS Jeunesse Africaine's ability to mobilize resources that the state cannot always deploy alone: an international network (Canada, Belgium, France, United States), access to foreign experts, and a local infrastructure that allows for direct intervention in local communities. This combination of international expertise and local roots makes the organization an operational lever that strengthens the impact of state initiatives.

Conclusion

Beyond its training programs, SOS Jeunesse Africaine acts as a true catalyst for public policies supporting youth. By mobilizing diverse expertise, promoting digital inclusion, and building bridges between young people and the professional world, the organization makes a tangible contribution to achieving the objectives of the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This synergy between public authorities and local stakeholders represents one of the most promising avenues for transforming the potential of Congolese youth into an engine of sustainable economic and social development.

The full report from the Congolese government, prepared with the support of its partners, is available for download. here.

La République Démocratique du Congo fait face à un défi démographique majeur : transformer le potentiel de sa jeunesse en un moteur de croissance pérenne.
